Changes To Red Diesel

An Overview of the changes that will take effect on the 1st of April 2022.

What is Changing?

From the 1st of April 2022, many industries will lose their entitlement to red diesel.

The change was initially announced by the government during Budget 2020. The change will come into effect on the 1st of April 2022.

This is part of the government's goal to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

The construction industry is forecast to be the most affected by this law change, with businesses now required by law to use taxed diesel in their off-road machinery.

Find out what this means for Greenplant Customers

From the 1st of April 2022, it will no longer be legal to use red diesel to fuel plant and machinery for most industries, including construction.

Greenplant will continue operating as normal to provide you with our excellent service and machinery and will continue to provide fuel to power them!

Once the April deadline passes, fuel-powered plant and tools will need to switch to using standard diesel, taxed at the full rate.

Greenplant offer both fuel and electrically powered plant and tools, such as our state-of-the-art V20 Tower Lights.
