Employ with Conviction: Discover the Benefits of Working with Prisons

Updated: 4 days ago

We can testify to the benefits of working with HM Prison and Probation Service to employ offenders on ROTL, and would encourage other employers to explore this avenue as a benefit not just to your business but to society as a whole.

If you're curious, consider attending the Employ with Conviction events at HMP Kirkham (Lancashire) on 7 October or HMP Springhill (Buckinghamshire) on 15 October.

Here's how Alice Buckingham, Head of Educations Skills and Work at HMP Kirkham, describes the events:

The events will be a space to understand, to challenge, and to ask the questions people don’t always feel comfortable asking to experts – in industry and in prisons.
We’ll talk honestly about ROTL (Release on Temporary Licence) and Employment for people on release. More importantly, we’ll explore how that could actually help address your real recruitment needs.
If you’ve ever wondered how, it works day to day, what the risks are (and how they’re managed), or whether it could work for your organisation… this is the event for you!
There’s a lot of talk about social value, but this is also about building a reliable, committed workforce and creating opportunities that benefit both sides.
With no pressure and no expectations, just the chance to learn, ask real questions, and get real replies.

We'd love to see many fellow employers there discovering how their business, and society as a whole, can benefit from employing prisoners. Register your interest by sending an email to governorssecretarykirkham@justice.gov.uk.
